Official commemorative 2 Euro coin, with a weight of 8.5 grams and a diameter of 25.75mm, issued by the Paris Mint, (monnaie de Paris) in 2013 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the signing of the historic Elysee Treaty. The coin depicts portraits of the heads of state who signed the Elysee Treaty (Chancellor of the Federal Republic of West Germany, Konrad Adenauer and former French President Charles de Gaulle),           their signatures and the words «50 ANS JAHRE» with the year "2013" on the center.

The Elysee Treaty was a pact of friendship between France and West Germany and was signed by President Charles de Gaulle and Chancellor Konrad Adenauer on January 22, 1963 at the Elysee Palace in Paris. The signing of this treaty created new bases in relations between the two countries and ended centuries of Franco-German rivalry.
